Yesterday, the 16 of us on the conference team who had already arrived traveled the 2 1/2 hours from where we were staying in Pretoria and headed into Sterkrivier, Limpopo to the Legends Golf and Safari Resort where the conference is taking place. The trip was uneventful and the time passed quickly as we visited. It has been really great getting to know the others on this team.
Once we got checked in, we headed had a late lunch (3 pm) and then went to our rooms for a brief time to get settled in and then meet for a prayer walk through the area where our rooms are and then back to our rooms for dinner. So I planned to get unpacked and settled in that time. Yeah right.
Before I go into that, let me try to describe the conference center a little. The “rooms” are organized in sets of two pairs, each grouping tucked away from the main road. Each grouping is situated so that the back of the rooms where all the windows are are facing out into the wild areas. And they are far from the other groupings of rooms for the most part. There is a shuttle that we can request that will come and pick us up to bring us to get meals or to go to the conference.
Here are a couple pictures of my room.
So back to my story. I was unpacking when Katie, who has the room next to me, came knocking at my door. She told me to grab my camera and come look. Just outside our rooms on her side three zebras were grazing. A little further down some Vervet monkeys were playing and heading our direction, and we saw some impala in the distance. Here are some pictures I got of them.
While we were prayer walking, we met Zora who is from South Africa. She is at the center with her husband who is attending a conference that is going on now. Here is Zora with Rebecca, the Master of Ceremonies for our conference.
