I only have internet on my phone, so you don’t get any pictures today…
Yesterday I learned that travelling overseas out of JFK can be an adventure if you fly into one terminal and out of another. Before this trip, but only experience with the airport was staying in just one terminal. I thought Ann hour and a half between flights was plenty of time but hadn’t realized that I had to go through security a second time. The guy in line behind me had a flight 15 minutes before mine and we were both nervous about making it to our gates in time. It probably didn’t help much, but I let him go ahead of me. If nothing else, it felt like the right thing to do, and he appreciated it.
The flight from there to Johannesburg was uneventful. I had a window seat with no one in the aisle seat next to me. That was rather nice.
The flight arrived at 8am and despite the large numbers of people, I made it through customs quickly. And I met a lady from Germany, a man from Ireland and took a few pictures for a group from Uruguay.
This afternoon, the one person from the conference team who is here already and I went to the Lion Park. I will post pictures tomorrow. We saw lions, zebra, springbok, cheetahs, spotted dogs, giraffes and several other animals. A highlight was getting to go into an enclosure with some playful lion “pups”.
That’s all for now. I’m going to pick pictures for my next blog post and wait for the rest of the team to arrive. I should sleep well tonight considering I have only gotten a few hours in the past few nights!
Thank you for all your notes of encouragement. You are a blessing to me!
